Royal FLORIA Putrajaya CUP 2015
FLORIA Cup is the FIRST Malaysian International Floral Design competition, which
made its first debut at the 2014 Putrajaya Flower & Garden Festival. The 2014
Putrajaya FLORIA Cup attracted overwhelming participation from 8 countries and
became an instant success, showcasing tremendous creativity and potential of aspiring
floral designers.
Last year saw the remarkable talent and passion of both international and local
participants, setting excellent floral designer benchmarks for the industry.
The Putrajaya FLORIA Cup has now earned its standing as a reputable international floral design challenge, and
provides an opportunity to develop the overall skills and knowledge of those in the floristry industry, through
formally recognised competitive and established platforms, such as the Royal FLORIA Putrajaya Flower &
Garden Festival ( Royal FLORIA ).
The challenge aims :
1. To raise the standards of Floral Designing, especially in developing skills in the local floristry.
2. To help develop the abilities of aspiring individual floral designer’s creativity, resourcefulness and
focus while giving real-life experience in a high pressure situation.
3. To spearhead and elevate the reputation of the FLORIA event into the international floristry arena
with culture exchange and friendship.
Judging will be conducted, by an independent international jury with industry knowledge and capability in
floristry, specially selected for the competition.
COMPETITION CRITERIA
Each contestant will be given a booth area of H 3500mm X W 3500mm X D 3000mm to design and create their 3
assignments within the assigned zone.
Contestants will have to complete all categories with a specified theme assigned, to be eligible to win. All 3
competition pieces must be created by contestants without any assistance.
Premade structure will be allowed on assignment No. 1 & No. 2, including installation of ornaments,
accessories, sand or stone as basing.
Pre - Set up Assignment 1 ( Competition Title : Passage of Perceptions )

Pre order of basic booth wall, rectangular box and carpet color can be requested from the organizer. The design perspective MUST be submitted by Wed, 15th.April, 2015 for subsidies approval.
Contestants may change their desired background color at their own discretion and expense IF The submission exceeded dateline given.
Prior installation of the pre-assigned rectangular box structure H 2400mm X W 1600mm X D 800mm is allowed with official contractor and/ or ONE appointed assistant.
Extra caution should be given to the stability of the design in the construction and installation.
Contestants are allowed to process and condition their floral material to ensure sufficient freshness to maximize its lifespan throughout the 10 days event. Pre-cutting of fresh materials of desired lengths; wiring or taping on any fresh materials are NOT permitted before the competition begins.

Every individual has different views in life - it is what makes us unique and different in our own way. Designers are required to apply their imagination and creativity onto the given framework to evoke the minds of their audiences, and bring them on a journey that would portray the significance of perception in life. The journey of life, viewed through the passage of perception portrayed by the Designer, brings different experiences to individuals based on their different interpretation and could be filled with the unknown or wonderment, or even a blend of both.
The setting MUST STRICTLY stay within H 3000mm X W 2800mm X D 3000mm. The rectangular plywood frame ( H 2400mm X W 1600mm X D 800mm ) is provided as an accent to create a floral art decoration with choice of display positioning in creative design and construction techniques, where design pieces can be displayed or mounted on the rectangular box wall panels. Staples, nails, screws or permanent fixture are allowed on the individual wall panels ONLY.
Props and decorative accessory items are permitted to and enhance the floral design creation and achieve the overall design look & feel.
❋ All materials will be prepared by the respective contestant. Arrangement MUST comprise 60% of fresh flower & foliage, 30% of dried materials and 10% others ornaments. Artificial flowers are NOT permitted.
❋ It is compulsory to provide a “Title” with a brief description of the design in English ( in less than 30 words ) which will be displayed on the description card for the judging. The Design Title & description must be received by 11th May 2015.
Assignment 2 Designer’s Choice

A design style of contestant's choice, all materials will be prepared by contestants
for this category.
The competition piece should be displayed on the provided cubical stand of
W 500mm X D 500mm X H 750mm.
Arrangement can flow down BUT the overall design height should not exceed the
height of the competition booth.
❋ Arrangement MUST comprise 60% of fresh flower 30 % dried materials
and 10% others ornaments. Artificial flowers are NOT permitted.
❋ It is compulsory to provide a “Title” with a brief description of the design
in English ( in less than 30 words ) which will be displayed on the
description card for the judging. The Design Title & description must be
received by 11th May 2015.
❋ Contestants are allowed to pre create a structure IF desired. However, NO
insertion of fresh plant material is allowed before the competition date.
Assignment 3 Surprise Package

( 45 minutes )
❋ Contestants are required to create a design with a selection of flowers
and materials provided by the competition committee ONLY.
❋ Minimum of 70% of the material must be used for the assigned theme.
No additional decorative accessories are allowed into the arrangement.
❋ Competition piece needs to be firmly staged within the cubical stand of
W 500mm X D 500mm X H 400mm. ( Height limitation within booth's height )
❋ Penalty points will be imposed for failing to meet the above requirements.
IMPORTANT NOTE :
▲ CONTESTANTS ARE ALLOWED TO COVER THE CUBICAL STAND FOR DESIGNER’S CHOICE ( ASSIGNMENT NO. 2 )
▲ USE OF STAPLES, NAILS, SCREWS OR GLUE IS NOT PERMITTED ON BOTH CUBICAL STANDS PROVIDED.
JUDGING
✍ Judging will commence on 29th May 2015 ( Friday ).
✍ Judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entertained.
❋ Winners will be announced on the official opening on 30th May 2015 ( Saturday ).
❋ Participants need to dismantle and clear away ALL their design and displayed materials on 08th June 2015
( Monday ) between 9.00am - 5.00pm.

1. The Organizing Committee of the 8th Royal FLORIA Putrajaya 2015 has the right of the final interpretation
on the Rules & Regulations of the competition.
2. All contestants are required to provide their brief profile as follows :
a. Country
b. Name.
c. Hi-res scan of profile photo.
d. Brief Profile in not more than 100 words by 11th May 2015 – Brief floristry education or
achievements, floral design or competition experience or achievement (s), awards.
